Cosmetic Injectables
Unsurprisingly, botulinum toxin and dermal filler injections are one of the most popular choices for non-surgical facial aesthetic care in Scottsdale. These simple, low-risk procedures make it possible to refine and enhance the face, lips, and neck without the need for surgery.
You Can Expect:
A customized injection plan, whether it’s your first time or you are a seasoned veteran.
Treatment by Dr. Ghorab, ensuring you get the highest level of precision and expertise.
Follow up visits for additional injections to maintain your desired volume and wrinkle-free look.
Botulinum Toxin Injection
Botulinum toxin injection is a quick procedure with tremendous results. In a matter of minutes, facial wrinkles and fine lines can be treated and prevented from developing further!
Muscle weakening begins within days and maximal effect is noted about 10 to 14 days later. The wrinkle-busting effects of botulinum toxin last about 3 to 6 months, depending on the neurotoxin product, dose, and individual factors.
People typically come in for maintenance injections once they notice more movement and skin wrinkling than they’d like.
Facial dermal Filler Injection
Cosmetic facial dermal fillers are meticulously injected into specific areas of the face, lips, and neck for a fuller, smoother, and more contoured look.
Careful attention is given to ensure aesthetic harmony with the overall facial features. The beautiful results are noticeable in real time.
The plumping and volumizing effects of dermal fillers last up to one year or longer! Most people want touch-up injections over time to maintain a desired fullness or correction, though this isn’t always the case.

Minimally Invasive Anesthesia
A common source of fear about undergoing facial plastic surgery is the idea of getting anesthesia, also referred to as being “put to sleep” or “going under.”
At Saba Plastic Surgery, we choose the absolute minimum level of sedation needed to keep you comfortable and pain-free during your procedure. Not only is our less invasive anesthesia protocol safer, but it also allows for a faster recovery. Our patients are pleasantly surprised to experience minimal downtime afterwards.
Below is a brief description of the various types of anesthesia used in facial plastic surgery. Dr. Ghorab typically uses one or more of these modalities, depending on the procedure and individual needs. If you’re interested in learning more about our anesthesia protocol for a specific procedure, visit the individual procedure page or contact us.
Topical Anesthesia
(least invasive)
An anesthetic cream or ointment is applied topically to the skin to create a numbing sensation that lasts about 30-60 minutes. This is most ideal for in-office soft tissue filler injections.
Patients can drive themselves home with no problem after receiving topical anesthesia.
Local Anesthesia
A local anesthetic is injected into the planned treatment areas. The onset of numbness is much quicker than topical agents and lasts about 1 to 2 hours. In addition to pain control, local anesthesia prevents excessive bleeding.
Local anesthesia is used singularly for minor procedures during which patients are awake or in combination with twilight anesthesia.
Patients can drive themselves home after receiving local anesthesia only.

Twilight Anesthesia
Twilight anesthesia typically refers to deep IV sedation without the need for a breathing tube or ventilator. This is performed by a licensed anesthetist who is present and monitors patients’ vital signs during the entire procedure with Dr. Ghorab.
Patients receive intravenous (IV) medications for sedation and pain control. Supplemental oxygen is given using a nasal cannula or face mask.
Since there is no intubation or use of a ventilator, less anesthetics are needed. This is overall safer and makes for a speedier recovery, with less anesthesia-related issues such as nausea/vomiting, breathing issues, or mental fog.
Patients need a designated driver to take them home and a caretaker to monitor them for 24 hours after surgery.
General Anesthesia
(most invasive)
General anesthesia is often what comes to mind when people think of “going under” for surgery. Unlike with twilight anesthesia, patients are completely “out” for the whole procedure.
General anesthetics are administered using IV and/or inhalational routes for complete sedation. Since a breathing tube and ventilator are necessary when fully sedated, it’s more invasive and recovery time is longer.
Patients need a designated driver to take them home and a caretaker to monitor them for 24 hours after surgery.
This form of general anesthesia is not routinely used at Saba Plastic Surgery. Our patients are relieved to learn that we can achieve high quality aesthetic outcomes without the increased risk of complications related to intubation and heavy duty anesthesia use.
“Our gold standard for minimally invasive anesthesia is a combination of local and twilight anesthesia. This approach provides optimal sedation and pain control without compromising our surgical results.”
